The 2007 V Festival shows donated $1 from every ticket sold to Virgin Unite, the charitable arm of the Virgin Group. But instead of keeping anything for themselves, Virgin Unite went looking the 5 most innovative and worthy social programs who rely on funding to survive. in 2008 we plan to allow you to luxuriate in the warm fuzzy feeling of doing good by default by once again donating $1 from every ticket sold.
Here’s a rundown of where the cash went this year...
ActNow makes you smarter! V Festival’s lead charity partner www.actnow.com.au is an awesome Australian initiative for young people that informs you on issues affecting you and your world. ActNow is an information and action hub that encourages happiness and wellbeing through community connection. In 2007, V Festival helped introduce the newly launched ActNow to an audience of over 55,000 in addition to a donation of more than $13,000.

Port Phillip Prison Reading Programme – is being created to help young men stay in touch with their young children by recording bedtime stories which will be sent to their children. This innovative and groundbreaking programme is part of an integrated plan to reduce the problems that result from absent parents and it will be piloted in the Port Phillip Prison.
Rumbalara Social Harmony Day. Rumbalara is an organization that supports the indigenous community in Shepparton Victoria. The concept is built around the idea of using sport as a way to promote social change, positive interaction in communities and indigenous and non indigenous interaction. Paul Briggs is the founder and head of Rumbalara and a highly regarded member of the indigenous community.
"The Shop" Womens Centre Redfern. Older Women’s English Classes. These classes have been running at "The Shop" for two years and are comprised of a much older group of women. For many in the group it has become a very important social group that has reduced isolation and loneliness while learning English in a safe non-threatening environment.
Stretch A Family - Stanmore House is creating and formulating a Recreational Program for residents that’s matched to the evolvement of their physical, emotional, psycho-social and spiritual development. The participation of Young people will increase their self-esteem, self-confidence and social skills. Our donation will assist in the development of this Program, enabling them to purchase equipment and to plan structured activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, national parks, beaches etc.
